Aberdeen is so perfectly placed for easy access to the countryside and these fabulous farm businesses all offer a fantastic day out - so fit are you waiting for? There really is something for all the family when you Go Rural from Aberdeen!

6 miles: Wynford Farm Park, Aberdeen

Wynford Farm Park has a little bit of something for everyone! There's accommodation at Wynford but for days out, Aberdeen locals can travel just 6 short miles from the city boundary to enjoy cute animals in the Farm Park, run wild in the Adventure Playground and Enchanted Forest or say “HELLO!” to feathered friends like the wonderful, talkative Salmon-Crested Cockatoo, Bailey. There's a cafe on site and a kiosk for drinks and snacks.

18 miles: Aberdeenshire Highland Beef

At Aberdeenshire Highland Beef, you can join the herd for a unique food and farm experience!

Take an exclusive tour around this working farm, meet the native breed, have the chance to photograph them, learn about their history and receive a delicious Highland Beef Tasting.

Spaces are limited so please book well in advance to guarantee your spot!

There's also a farm shop on site which is currently open Saturdays and Sunday.

22 miles: Deeside Activity Park

This is a real hidden treasure for the outdoor enthusiast. Visitors can make their way to Deeside Activity Park for a number of outdoor activities, such as Karting, Quad Biking, Fly Fishing and Archery. There's much more to choose from and you can build up your own activity package to while away a whole day if you like. To keep you going, there's a farm restaurant and shop on site and if one day is not enough (it's probably not, to be fair) there is cottage accommodation too!

35 miles: Charleton Fruit Farm

Situated on the outskirts of Montrose, Charleton Fruit Farm has long been a great place to visit. The owners are committed to offering quality local produce, tasty food and a warm welcome for all the family. There's a fantastic kids play area and special family activities throughout the year like the Easter Egg Trail and October Treasure Hunt.

During the seasons, there's pick your own raspberries, strawberries and pumpkins for all the family to enjoy and loads of seasonal fruit, veg and plants to be found in the farm shop.

42 miles: Down on the Farm, Rosehearty

At Down on the Farm, near Fraserburgh, the Short family offer a range of unique rural experiences from farm tours to cream teas and quirky places to stay. 

Stonebriggs is a busy working farm offering trailer-tours that take in the farm, the unspoilt coastline, an opportunity to meet the animals and learn about sheep and cattle farming in North East Scotland. There are three different tours and all end with a drink and home baking in the farm bothy

55 miles: Byres Farm, Fochabers

Byres farm is a mixed arable and livestock farm on the banks of the River Spey in Moray. The Smith family has created a unique facility for families to see first-hand what happens on a working farm. The farm park and animal feeding are open Saturday & Sundays 10:00am-4:00pm and the self-service coffee shop is open 7:00am-7:00pm. 

Activities at Byres Farm include: malting barley whisky tour, tractor driving experience, weekly groups for pre-schoolers and under 3s and the Smiths will tailor make a package to meet your specific requirements and or areas of interest.
