13 miles: Robertson's, Beauly

Meet Highland Cows, Katie and Jamie and their friends when you stop off at this treasure trove of a farm shop just at the start of the North Coast 500. Stop off and stock up with some tasty treats, especially the home -grown Strawberries in the summer months. Kids will love the animal petting farm -look out for its re- opening details

15 miles: Highland Farm Cafe, Dingwall

Savour delicious, locally sourced food, freshly made cakes and home baking in this eco- friendly farm café. The ethos is on all things local from meat to ice cream to wines and beers. Just off the North Coast 500 Route you’ll find electric bike and car charging points. If you are a cyclist the café offers bike pump, storage and water refill tap. A perfect stop off point to recharge your batteries!

20 miles: Dalmore Farm Shop, Alness

Join the Wilson family on Dalmore Farm, where they have farmed for over 80 years, just off the A9 and North Coast 500 route and within walking distance of the Cromarty Firth. Enjoy home cooked food, delicious cakes and a speciality Dalmore roast coffee in the restaurant. The outdoor picnic benches are the perfect spot to savour the views over the Cromarty Firth and the Black Isle. You’ll also find lots of local produce to take home from the farm shop, including eggs and pork from the farm. Kids will love the playpark and animal farm. It’s a great day out with family and friends.

22 miles: Corrimony Farm, Glenurqhart

You may just have seen these familiar faces on the BBC's, “This Farming Life”! An upland farm, Corrimony is home to the Girvan family and their 140 Stabiliser breeding cows and 900 Lleyn Sheep. You’ll find truly Highland Pumpkins at their Loch Ness Pumpkin Patch. Opening dates for 2022 pumpkin picking will be from 8-22 October this year. Look out for further ticket sales information – it’s the hottest ticket in town! You can also enjoy their sustainably grown cut flower on- line Wild Acre shop.

31 miles: Thorabella Buffalo Farm, Dallas

Follow the Good Life! With a passion for animals and proud supporters of buying locally sourced produce, Thorabella is the only Buffalo farm that sells meat between Kirkcaldy and Orkney as well as rearing other rare breeds such as Gotland sheep. The farm is a great place to visit for a farm tour and see the animals. Don’t forget to visit the farm shop for a wide range of home reared, healthy buffalo -based products.

32 miles: Rothiemurchas Estate, Aviemore

Rothiemurchus is the perfect setting in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, which has been cared for by eighteen generations of Grants of Rothiemurchus. There are a whole host of exciting outdoor activities, from archery, wildlife photography to a hairy coo- safari, pony trekking, and quad bike trekking. Just where do you start? And after all that recharge in The Barn Café or pick up some of the farm’s produce in the farm shop. A great day out for family and friends.

47 miles: Byres Farm, Fochabers

Byres farm is a mixed arable and livestock farm on the banks of the River Spey in Moray. The Smith family has created a unique facility for families to see first-hand what happens on a working farm. The farm park and animal feeding are open Saturday & Sundays 10:00am-4:00pm and the self-service coffee shop is open 7:00am-7:00pm. 

Activities at Byres Farm include: malting barley whisky tour, tractor driving experience, weekly groups for pre-schoolers and under 3s and the Smiths will tailor make a package to meet your specific requirements and or areas of interest.
