All of the meat, veg, fruit and eggs grown on the farm are sold through the shop. All our meat is butchered in our organic butchery. The bread is baked in the Breadshare Bakery on the farm. Our restaurant kitchen also cooks our Made Right Here range of steak pies, quiche, cottage and shepherd pies, pate, jams, cakes and chutney.
As well as our own food, we stock everything from aduki beans to zebra (painted wooden ones!) and you can get all your weekly messages right here.
Welcome to one of the best organic shops in the UK - voted Best UK Organic Retailer in 2011 and Runner Up in 2013.
We were also named one of the Top Ten Destination UK Farmshops in BBC Good Food Magazine - and the only one from Scotland!
The aim of the farm is to be productive, beautiful, diverse and educational and we work on each of these challenges every day.
Whitmuir Farm is owned by Heather Anderson and Pete Ritchie, who moved here in 2000. Like most farms, the farm has been farmed organically for most of it's 300 history, returning to certified organic production in 2000. The farm is run as a trading partnership with Heather and Pete as the Partners.
Being organic is non-negotiable here, so everything in the shop and restaurant is either certified organic or, when no organically produced equivalent is genuinely yet available, environmentally friendly and/or ethically produced.
Our farm and our butchery are both certified by the Soil Association, who inspect annually. The SA symbol on our meat and vegetables and fruit means we meet the very highest welfare and production standards.
We farm organically because farming sustainably is the only long term option. Organic farming is better for the soil, the plant, the animal, the planet and us. We aim to produce good, healthy food which literally doesn't cost the earth.
