Strathmore Estates & Glamis Castle

Glamis Castle is the family home of the Earls of Strathmore and Kinghorne and has been a royal residence since 1372. It is the childhood home of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, birthplace of Her Royal Highness The Princess Margaret and legendary setting for Shakespeare's famous play ‘Macbeth’.

Glamis Castle is open 7 days a week from early May to November with regular guided tours running daily. During this time up to 120,000 visitors visit the Castle, half from the UK and the rest worldwide. There are two shops within the grounds, a Victorian Kitchen Restaurant, Victorian Tea Room and a number of public exhibitions. Our extensive ground include a children's play area, nature trail, Pinetum, Walled Garden and Italian Garden.
